1976 Porsche 911 Turbo Carrera

Michael's car of the month for March is this 1976 Porsche 911 Turbo Carrera. This 911 was Porsche's first consumer-available turbocharged streetcar. These cars were absolutely groundbreaking; they set the car world on its ear. The 1975-1977 cars sported a non-intercooled 3-liter engine and the high performance 917 racing brakes. They had a large turbo rear deck spoiler, also known as the 'Whale Tail,' and the Turbo Carrera script on the rear deck. All of these features were years in the future.

Even though the designation 930 was used as the internal type number, these cars were called 911 Turbo Carreras. In fact, the Porsche parts system referred to them as 911T, and it still does! What makes this particular car super unique is the fact that only three Turbo Carreras were painted this beautiful Polar Blue color. When the turbo car made its debut, one was sent to the New York car show and the other to the Los Angeles car show. This one is from the Los Angeles show.

Next month I hope to showcase the last year of the 930 in the rarest version produced! I have a beautiful example of one in the shop. What do you think that car is? Drop me a line.
